One coffee pot. All white, all ironstone, embossed swirls on the rim and base, a beautifully detailed handle. The most versatile piece J&G Meakin ever made in the Colonial line.

This is a vintage white ironstone coffee pot in the Colonial Sterling pattern by J&G Meakin, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Circa 1970s. Embossed swirl design on the upper rim and lower third of the pot, with matching swirl detail along the top and base of the handle. Stamped on the bottom: "Sterling Colonial English Ironstone, J&G Meakin, England." Holds 5 cups. One piece available.

The Colonial Sterling is the most versatile of Meakin's Colonial patterns — the all-white format means it mixes easily with almost any dinnerware. J&G Meakin made several Colonial colorways (Colonial Brown, Colonial Flow Blue, Colonial Garden, Colonial Green), but the white is the one that works anywhere and with everything.

Some crazing and a minor chip on the underside of the base — not visible when standing normally. The interior is exceptionally clean — appears never used, only displayed. No chips or scratches on any visible surface.

J&G Meakin was founded in 1851 in Hanley, Staffordshire, and became one of Britain's largest potteries, manufacturing primarily for export to the US and the British Empire. They were acquired by the Wedgwood group in 1970 and the Eagle Pottery closed in 2004.
